Old Bay

“I admit there’s nothing I’d like more than for Old Bay to take over the world”: in The New Yorker, Casey Cep writes about what she calls “the greatest condiment in America.” There’s also a recipe for Mr. Keith’s Crab Soup.

[In the recipe, “mixed vegetables” is a tad vague. A cursory search suggests celery, corn, carrots, green beans, lima beans, onions, and potatoes as among the possibilities.]

i love old bay. although recently had a fun experience with my tin of it: the bigger end for using a spoon opened up when shaking onto some french fries and a big ol pile of it ended up on the fries. way too much!!! by the way utz has crab chips with old bay seasoning -- they claim it's not and herr's has old bay chips and lays has chips with chesapeake season (like utz).
one has lived until you eat boiled crabs with old bay seasoning on brown paper sitting out near the chesapeake bay.

They're now selling an Old Bay-flavored Goldfish. (Since I grew up in Maryland, I'm partial to Old Bay)

I love Old Bay, though the Herr's chips were a disappointment to me. I had another brand out east once — much better. I’ll look for the Goldfish — and maybe even the mixed vegetables (see the URL)..
