According to this compendium of Apollo shows, the February 23, 1940 bill had Lucky Millinder as headliner. Supporting acts included The Four Step Brothers and Three Magnandes. Click for a larger view and you’ll see these names.
Here’s a sample of the Millinder sound. Here are The Four Step Brothers in action. I’ve got nothing on the Magnandes, or whatever that name might be. (Machandis?)
My dad saw Billie Holiday at the Apollo.

There are a couple of pretty well-known musicians in the Millinder orchestra, i.e., Dizzie Gillespie and Sister Rosetta Tharpe. Others may also be well-known, just not to me.
Yep. That’s DG on “Little John Special,” and at the end there’s the riff that became “Salt Peanuts.”
"the 3 magnandes"
cant find anything else
Does anyone know what “1931 — 10 M” means?
If you look at the tax photos, you’ll see that every property has a block number (the four-digit number) and a lot number. The M means Manhattan. You often see a photographer or clerk or just a hand next to the little sign.
