SMASH

The latest episode of the BBC podcast Just One Thing encourages the listener to “Enjoy Oily Fish.” I learned an acronym from this episode: SMASH, for salmon, mackerel, anchovies, sardines, and herring.

I've had 3 of the five. I didn't realize that salmon was considered an oily fish. I did pick up some herring this week from Aldi that was on their finds aisle and a jar of herring in wine during the holidays.

Herring has always been on my list to try.

Sardines mixed with mayo on crackers is a delight.

I’m an SAS (essayist?). I saw the herring (in some kind of sauce) in Aldi just this afternoon but walked on by.

Bar Louie in my building closed a while ago. Finally, a new restaurant has moved in. So convenient. And so fishy. Boil and Shake — all seafood, except for a few kids meals and some sides. I can't eat seafood. Story of my life. At least I'm not smelling it like Bar Louie.

I looked up your restaurant — they do have a few things with chicken.

It’s so hard to get good gator these days. : )

Where did you find it? They don't seem to have a website, and the name is different from their other locations. They have a chicken po boy but also not my thing.

Mellow Yellow is now gone too. The Hyde Park Herald quoted some local fool.

This is the site I found: Boil & Shake.

Ah, I see the fool. I am chagrined to have lived in Hyde Park for a summer without knowing about Mellow Yellow. But I did know about Harold’s, Ribs and Bibs, and the Original Pancake House.
