Bean soup theory

From Merriam-Webster, an introduction to bean soup theory.

(Wait — should that be bean-soup theory? Nah, don’t overthink it, Michael.)

Here, from TikTok, is the recipe that prompted the theory. My favorite joke complaint: “What if you can’t eat solid food yet because you’re a newborn.”

And from Delish, some further context.

  1. The name for this phenomenon is delightful.
I wonder if there’s some funny name for a related phenomenon:
when an audience member at a talk asks the speaker a question,
but the question is all about what the questioner thinks (“thinks”).

  3. I’ve seen it happen many times, but I don’t know of a name for it. I believe it’s sometimes known as “academia.” :)
