New directions in chicken soup

Add smoked paprika to your bowl, a little or a lot. Yow!

You may need to follow up with a small dish of ice cream to cool your lips.

November 4: I can now say that I agree with Joe (see comments). Hot sauce in chicken soup is a good thing. Elaine and I added some Louisiana Hot Sauce to our bowls last night. (It was a long time between chickens.)

Following up with a small dish of ice cream is always a good idea. Or a big dish.

Often I shake some Frank's RedHot Sauce in my bowl before adding the chicken soup. I'll try the smoked paprika.

I was thinking about sriracha before deciding on the paprika. I’ll try the hot sauce after the next chicken.

And if I have to eat more ice cream, I’ll just grit my teeth and do it.

One of my favorite things about the cooler months is I tend to make more soup. Glad you liked the hot sauce addition.

Having recently been cleared to eat some shellfish (mollusks: good; crustaceans: bad) after 15 years avoiding it due to an acquired allergy, I recently made a pot of clam chowder. Gotta say, it was better than I'd remembered. No hot sauce, though.

Happy eating, Joe.
