Seeing what I’ve decided to call post tracks: the tracks that go through the snow from house to house in straight or nearly straight lines. Forget about shoveled sidewalks: postal carriers know that the shortest distance between two points is a straight line through the snow.

I normally shovel a path across our front lawn for our mail carrier to save him some steps, but this year the snow is just too deep. He's been walking up from the street.
ReplyDeleteI thought of making a path, but the drifted snow on our neighbor’s side was too much. Our carrier just walked through it anyway. And we saw him wearing shorts a couple of days ago.
