Golf. Golf. Golf. Rake. Rake. Rake. The punchline in today’s strip: “You can’t play golf with a rake!” I somehow begin to suspect that I am not the Hi and Lois target audience.
But that doesn’t explain why there isn’t a single leaf on the ground. Might today’s strip have kept until, say, October?

Unless their target audience is "cranky old guys that scan for bad drawing, flat jokes and general lameness", then no, you're not it.
Tut tut. I first noticed problem areas in Hi and Lois in 2008, when I was [calculates in head] fifteen years younger.
You’ll have to take me at my word: I don’t go looking for trouble with Hi and Lois. It finds me.
Perhaps he means a garden rake or an immoral womanizer.
Uh-oh, I didn’t think of a garden rake. I gotta say though that I don’t think there’s ever been a sign of a garden in the Flagston world — just lawn.
Good point, as I recall.
Well, they do have a garden, at least one that makes intermittent appearances. Here are strips from 2019 and 2020. But more strangeness: in the 2020 strip, Thirsty’s wife is bringing a rake for her husband. And here too, no leaves, just overgrown lawn. Maybe she wants him to rake up his beer cans.
Oops — I left my comment before I saw yours, Kevin. My “Well, they do ...” wasn’t meant to sound like a correction.
