Some rocks?
ReplyDeleteI know you mean in Zippy. Yes, Bill Griffith just about always puts them in when the strip is Nancy-themed.

ReplyDeleteEtymology. Gilead is explained in the Hebrew Bible as derived from the Hebrew words גלעד gal‛êd, which in turn comes from gal ('heap, mound, hill') and ‛êd ('witness, testimony'). If that is the case, Gilead means 'heap [of stones] of testimony'. There is also an alternative theory that it means 'rocky region'.

ReplyDeleteI just thought that it was fun that PBS News Hour, Nancy and Zippy all collided.
No problem — a discussion of Five Easy Pieces and other movies started up recently on a post about Safari bookmarks, and I think that nudged me toward assuming something similar happened here. (It’s easy with Blogger to comment on the wrong post if you have a series of posts scrolling in front of you — I’ve done it too.) Anyway, I’m grateful to know about Gilead.

ReplyDeleteI’m a fish out of water here. If it is a heap of stones of testimony, that certainly makes sense. As when people leave stones on a grave?
