Mary Miller, pants on fire

I’ve sometimes thought about creating a Twitter account just to respond to the outrageously dishonest tweets of my representative in Congress, Mary (“Hitler was right on one thing”) Miller. The Chicago Sun-Times has addressed one of Miller’s recent tweets, which claims that a migrant group as large as the population of Minneapolis is making its way to the U.S.–Mexico border.

Well, you could have a state Republican saying that $1.3 billion in federal research dollars isn't as important as trampling liberties:

"At least one member of the committee, Sen. Mike Thompson, a Shawnee Republican, said the state should consider the trade-off.

The research dollars, Thompson said, aren’t as important as concerns “about our liberties and how they’re being trampled.”"

ps Twitter isn't worth it. Find a journalist and feed them the info.

I think again and again about what would have happened had these attitudes about “freedom” (a selfish and ill-informed version of it) prevailed during the 1947 outbreak of smallpox in NYC.

I know Twitter wouldn’t be worth it for me — it would not be good for my mental health. I lurk, accountless, and read a handful of people. When it comes to Mary Miller, there are plenty of people in Illinois paying attention. Local outlets though are hopeless.
