“Buddy, the wind is blowing”

Truman Capote, “A Christmas Memory” (1956).

Buddy is seven. His friend is a distant cousin, “sixty-something,” a member of his household.

“It really does”: a touch of Holden Caulfield?

I used to love that TV special--narrated by Capote.
(Haven't seen it in years but his voice lingers.)

Thanks. I know about the recording, but I didn’t know about a movie. I’ll have to look on YouTube.

My professor Jim Doyle, who became a beloved figure at the Vermont state school where he returned to teaching, used to read the story every year. I think it was something of a campus event.

YouTube has it, with Geraldine Page.
