New music from Pegg and Van Dyke Parks

New music:

Fans of ornate pop and America’s pastime have reason to celebrate today. Brooklyn’s Pegg, the highly collaborative project of Xander Duell, has teamed up with the legendary Van Dyke Parks for their brief but densely-packed three-song suite, Presque Tout: Variations no. 435-514 “Baseball Season.”

You can hear part one, “No Dice,” and learn more via the link. The music is being released as a digital download, as a CD, and, in a limited edition, with a jigsaw puzzle.

As I now know, this work, which makes use of (chops to bits) a VDP string arrangment, is in no sense a collaboration. I’ll leave it at that.
