Mary Miller (R, IL-15) is a Christian nationalist. No question.
Also a moron. Again, no question.
The Guardian has an article: “Outrage after Republican representative disparages Sikh prayer in the US House.” Hakeem Jeffries, quoted therein: “It’s deeply troubling that such an ignorant and hateful extremist is serving in the United States Congress. That would be you, Mary.”

I have always respected how Thomas Jefferson said that even as bland a blanket term as Christian must not be officially applied to the new republic... Sometimes, I think the founding fathers, so long ago, knew more about human nature than we do.
They would have been appalled at someone like our Mary. Even fellow Republicans in the House have criticized her. I’m planning to call her local offices on Monday (D.C. is just an answering machine) to speak my piece.
I remember walking to my (provincial) Member of the Legislative Assemble (MLA) and being told he was busy. Then I heard my boss's angry voice down the hall. So I walked home and left her a phone message: "You go girl!"
I'd like to tell Mary Miller where to go. :)
I laughed out loud at that line!
Thank you!
In contrast, I think of my state’s representative Keith Ellison, a Muslim, being sworn in on Thomas Jefferson’s Quran.
PS. To be accurate (I double-checked), Ellison was ceremonially sworn in on a Quran
after his official swearing-in.
I’m planning to call the local office(s) tomorrow to ask whether Mary also gets the vapors when a rabbi does the prayer.
