Anyone who doubts that music is “the quickening art,” as Oliver Sacks, borrowing from Kant, put it, would do well to watch last night’s 60 Minutes story about Tony Bennett, “The Final Act.” You’ll need to disable your adblocker to watch.

This was the most amazing story. At first, you wonder why they are showing a much depleted Tony Bennet, suffering from dementia, having trouble remembering even his life story. Yet, when the curtain opens to an adoring cheering audience, he clicks on, he lights up, he responds. It's just an amazing story of how the brain works. We were in tears.
You weren’t the only ones.
