Pizza Huts from the past

“There is no official directory of Pizza Hut Classics. Yum Brands does not promote or even acknowledge their existence on its website. They are like wormholes in the chain restaurant galaxy, portals to the past found by serendipity”: “That Red Roof! Those Tiffany Lamps! It’s a Pizza Hut From the Past” (The New York Times).

The Pizza Hut Classic (a restaurant, not a pie) looks like the Pizza Hut that once existed in our little town. I think the last time I was there might have been in the 1990s. (Mediocre, and overpriced.) But today? Take me to your simulacrum.

i loved pizza hut in the old days. by the way, the oldest pizza hut in the same location closed in my local campus hangout area (basically the bars): https://1350kman.com/2015/07/worlds-oldest-operating-pizza-hut-to-close-in-aggieville/ pizza hut was started in wichita, ks. and the goose bar next door is still closed and nothing has opened in its place!

I can still smell the interior of the Pizza Hut in Ainsworth, Nebraska, can feel the shape of the parmesan and red chili shakers in my hand. It’s still there with the same signature roof although the interior has surely been updated.

Pizza Hut and Pizza Inn both began in 1958, so the one in Aggieville was almost as old as the chain itself.

Thanks, everyone, for the comments.
