The Blogger spam folder (yikes)

For those who use Blogger:

Open the Dashboard and choose Comments from the sidebar. You may (finally) notice the drop-down arrow at the top of the page:

Click on the arrow, and you may meet with an unpleasant surprise:

There’s no surprise in this screenshot, which I took after the fact. But when I first opened this drop-down menu, I found 200+ comments in the Spam folder, ranging from 2006 to this past February. About half were spam. But about half were genuine, and most of those were from me, short comments written while I was signed into my account. My own comments in my own Spam folder! So I spent around twenty minutes last night deleting the junk and approving the real stuff, one comment at a time.

The morals of the story: When making a comment, check to make sure it’s posted. And check the Spam folder once in a while for stuff to delete — or post.

Ugh. Thanks for this... So many, especially on really old posts. One of yours - none of my own, though.

I’m glad it was helpful. And I see now how many times I appeared to not say “Thanks.” Gah!

I found two old comments, one my own and one an emoticon. Published both!
