Tom Dick and Harry Shoes

A follow-up to yesterday’s tax photograph: my brother Brian found the photographs to go with the Zippy strips inspired by a Todd Webb photograph. Here, in two views, is the one-time Manhattan outpost of Tom Dick and Harry Shoes:

There’s also a window display, shown in the 1926 book The Handbook of Window Display. The hanging sign visible in the first tax photograph above seems to echo the design of this 1926 storefront. A 1928 compendium of retail stores has a Tom Dick and Harry with thirty-eight stores in New York and Massachusetts.
