Olivia Jaimes’s Nancy is Bushmiller-like today in its transformation of things into other things: a crosswalk into equals signs, a street into a blackboard. (The street must have been shut down for Nancy.)

That strip cheats! Where’s the Aunt Fritzi lean-in? A balloon floating off to the side doesn’t cut it, not at all.
(Possibly relevant fact: I get Nancy strips from @NancyComicsSDF@mastodon.sdf.org, which gets them from Fantagraphic’s collection series. I haven’t seen recent Nancy strips since the turn of the century, and probably not before then either.)
Uh, maybe it’s an homage to Peanuts? :) No, I don’t think so either.
Thanks for the link. I love the Fantagraphics volumes — already out of print (!). GoComics also runs a limited stretch of Bushmiller strips: https://www.gocomics.com/nancy-classics.
