[“Yule Joy for Poor, Aged, Young And Ill.” The New York Times, December 26, 1924.]
In 2024, Merry Christmas to all who celebrate it. Happy Hanukkah to all who celebrate it. Happy Kwanzaa to all who celebrate it. As Heather Cox Richardson wrote yesterday, “Happy holidays to you all, however you celebrate ... or don’t.”

Looks like you don’t even take Christmas off. Merry Christmas to you, too!
Thanks!
Writing's a pleasure, any day. I had planned on just this post (which I lined up weeks ago), but then I checked and was surprised to see that I’d never posted the Cotton Top Sanctified Singers. And then William Labov — I had to acknowledge him. But I did take most of the day off. :)
