I went looking for an explanation of why my Mac showed iCloud Drive (Archive), iCloud Drive (Archive) - 1, and iCloud Drive (Archive) - 2. I found the answer and deleted all but the most recent archive (2), which I then renamed as iCloud Drive (Archive). Gigabytes saved! Lifelong learning!

After many mishaps I’ve come to the conclusion that the big three (Apple, Google, and Microsoft) have the worst cloud storage implementations.
I’m stuck using OneDrive at work and I almost lost several important projects because it kept duplicate but linked copies on the same physical disk drive. When I tried to get rid of what I thought was a copy I got rid of both originals from the physical srive and from the cloud drive.
I’ve found iCloud troublesome when it suddenly stops syncing messages (why?). I have an external hard drive and keep all documents in Backblaze. No problems with Backblaze (so far!).
