Orange Crate Art at fourteen

My blog is fourteen years old today. It’s an awkward age. But nothing is wrong. Everything’s fine. Just leave me alone, okay? Can’t a person have any privacy around here? Jeez!

[Door slams.]

On behalf of my fourteen-year-old, thank you, everyone who’s reading.

Just keep in mind that by the time your 14-year-old is twenty-one, you will have grown immensely wise in its eyes. In the meantime, these are the years for which the Universe gave us the gift of good scotch, and the reward of grandchildren.

Wel, thanks for communicating. I've learned you don't say,"how was your day?" to a teen-ager, so were you stumped today?

Yes, life for parents can get much better as the years go by. :)

OCA: Peerless dowdiness.

Congratulations! :)

Ah, 14. It's my actual birthday tomorrow and I am 45 years older than that... so 14 sounds kind of good.

DN3, I have you beat by three years, but I’m not sure I’d ever want to be fourteen again. The horror!

Sean, thanks. I try. :)

"Can you drive me to the mall?"

(Do kids still say that?)

Happy birthday to you and OCA. I was going to send you an accordion, but someone bought it. (No, I wasn't. But someone did buy it!)

P.S. I am four 14-year-olds + one 1-year-old. That's a squirrely carload.

Thanks, Fresca, for the good wishes. I’m happy to say that our children never hung out at the mall, but that may have something to do with the quality of our mall. :)

P.S.: I wish Carmen’s new person well. What a find!
