Peppermint Hallmark

[Peanuts, November 22, 1970.]

Peppermint Patty (last name Reichardt I once heard) is watching a beauty contest. But I prefer to believe that she’s watching the Hallmark Channel.

I can't believe how much of A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving I'd forgotten—including that Peppermint Patty's name is Priscilla.

I began immediately to wonder whether you'd mention the source, Frank O'Hara's "The Day Lady Died," as you often do near the end of a post like this one. I hoped that you wouldn't, so I'd seem clever when I commented on the allusion. But I like the idea of extra credit even better. Among the hundreds of poems that I know thanks to you, Michael, this one is perhaps my favorite. It's in the top five, certainly. (I wonder how close you might come to guessing the others. I'll bet that one or two of them might be obvious by the number of times I've referred to them over the years.)

Hooray too for the sweet photos of Talia. Keep 'em coming and Happy Thanksgiving!

I am going to have to try one of these Hallmark movies you speak of---are they streaming somewhere?

Diane, I was so proud of myself about “(last name Reichardt I once heard)” that I forgot about her real first name.

Stefan, I’m guessing that Larkin would be in there. What else? (Help!)

Fresca, you can find some of them on YouTube, uploaded by selfless viewers. Look for hallmark christmas movies. Sleigh Bells Ring is there, at least for now.

Happy Thanksgiving, everybody.
