Blogger search broken

See the search box at the top left? It’s now broken, at least for many Blogger blogs. Results are often spotty and sometimes non-existent. The problem has become a known issue.

Until the problem’s fixed, you can search a Blogger blog by doing a Google site search, like so:

site:mleddy.blogspot.com keyword keyword
You can search for individual words or for phrases in quotation marks, as with any Google search.

  5. Now your work around doesn't work. :(

  6. I guess its helpfulness depends on whether Google has properly crawled the pages of a site. It seems to be working with Orange Crate Art, at least, and it returns better results than Blogger’s Google search widget (which I removed from my sidebar a week or so ago). What problems are you having?

  7. Hi, Michael. It was working, but now it comes back with "Your search - site:xxx.blogspot.com ice cream - did not match any documents." When, in fact, ice cream is contained in the most recent post! The same thing results with each search I try.

  8. It sounds as though Google hasn’t indexed your site. Try this.

  9. Leslie, I just did some looking at the Blogger Help Forum, and it seems that what you describe is a widespread problem. See here and here. I too still have posts that site search doesn’t find.

  10. Thanks, Michael. It's a shame--your fix was the magic bullet for a while.
