Mystery actor

[Click for a larger view.]

Yes, he’s in disguise. But a more significant element of misdirection: he’s laughing, at something genuinely funny. Yes, that guy, laughing.

A hint: the actor was known for violence both offscreen and on.

Another hint: he made an appearance on Seinfeld .

The answer is now in the comments.

Wife says: "Lon Cheney Jr, possibly in Dead Man's Eyes"

Bob Odenkirk?

No, from an earlier era.

Lawrence Tierny

No doubt from Naked City

Yes, that‘s Lawrence Tierney in his first starring role, in Dillinger (1946). He‘s in the Biograph Theater, laughing at a cartoon, not long before being gunned down by the feds.

And he made the Seinfeld cast very uneasy.

Thanks for the link. That guy was a psycho.

Hmmm, I don't think I've heard of him. Some light bedtime reading.

With the glasses, superficially my first thought was of Peter Sellers before I read the description.

He does make me think of Peter Sellers in Dr. Strangelove. But quite a different fellow.

Oh, myyyy, read the bio. He was in Star Trek: The Next Generation in "The Big Goodbye" as Cyrus Redblock, a character meant to evoke Sydney Greenstreet. Also in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine as a less memorable (to me) character.

Look for Born to Kill from 1947 (it’s on YouTube) — Tierney as a young dashing sort. The movie is just bonkers.
