“Shoppers overwhelm Chicago stationery shops as social media touts ‘return to analog’” (WBEZ).
I always thought this kind of thing would happen. And I approve, even if I’m typing on a phone.

I'm all for it of course, but I can't help noting the irony that people are flocking to the stores only because of social media influencers. It's very hard to sustain modes of communication that are no longer the cheapest and most convenient forms—but then who thought that LPs would make a comeback?
I think I was too happy to see Atlas in the news to appreciate the irony, but yes, for sure, you’re right. There’s a world of activity I’m not attuned to at all with people making videos to show off their planners, &c. (Just use the thing, I’d say.) But if seeing stuff online whets someone’s appetite for paper and pencils and pens, okay!
