Mental acuity

Follow along:

“It dated to the Monroe doctrines, and the Monroe doctrine is a big deal. But we've superseded it by a lot. By a real lot. They now call it the Donroe document, I don’t know. Monroe doctrine. We sort of forgot about it. It was very important, but we forgot about it. We don’t forget about it anymore.”
And follow along as he slurs and “blinks.” Just blinking! But remember: he aced his third “Congnitive Examination.”

And he has posted to his social-media account seventy-four times in the last six hours.

As someone pointed out on Bluesky... remember the right-wing outrage over teleprompters? And here we have Trump barely able to read obvious notes in front of him. As far as the blinking goes - I wonder if some of it is because he has discomfort in his eyes (like dry eye), so they feel better when they're shut. I don't think he was falling asleep standing up today. There are other times, when he was sitting down, that it appears he had dozed off, I agree.

I hint he was coming close today. I saw a lot of drift as the general was talking. Granted, he must have been up all night. But his difficulties with reading seem to always be a problem. I notice that when he does appear to be sleeping, no one turns the mic (so to speak) back to him. They all know what’s going on, and they enable it.

I think, &c.
