West of the Rockies: Best. East of the Rockies: Hellman’s. The distinction came up yesterday in conversation with friends, and all at once it hit me:
The Condimental Divide.
In 2019 I called a toll-free number to ask where to find the Best–Hellman’s dividing line. It was a genuine question.

Reporting from Laramie, Wyoming, where I am looking out my window at the Rockies, it is Best Foods.
Wouldn't it be interesting if the dividing line ran through Rochester, Minnesota?
Dukes is the boss mayo in the southeast, though.

Thanks, everyone, for the comments and the link. Rochester? I don't get it. I've trued Duke's and liked it, but my heart is in the Hellman's.

Well, I'm glad the joke is (cough) spreading. I'm disappointed to find, after the fact, that the joke has been made before, but not by me :)
Rochester, Minnesota is the home of the Mayo Clinic.
