Handwriting accomplishes something greater now than ever before in education: It restores a sense of trust to the student-teacher relationship that has been shaken by AI. While I benefit from the renewed confidence that I can grade my students’ work with fairness and a clear view of what they know, students can feel relief, too, in knowing that they do not have to go to lengths to prove their humanity and authorship and that their peers are not using AI to cheat.Related reading
