Wallace Shawn's line about the cigar shop in New York reminds me of Paul Auster's screenplay "Smoke," which features a cigar shop in Brooklyn. It's the same point, I think: We've got to pay attention.
I love that movie. Auggie’s photography is another form of attention to the so-called ordinary.
