In Smithsonian, Chris Heath visits Robert Caro and asks about progress on the fifth and final volume of Caro’s biography of Lyndon Johnson:
I inquire, how is the book proceeding? He’s now up to 1965 (year, not page).
“That’s a good question,” he says. “Well, I’ve written a lot. You want me to tell you what page?”
I would.
“Nine hundred and eighty,” he says. “The trouble is, it’s going to be too long. It’s going to be very, very long! That’s about all I can say.”

Did any parts of his writing routine resonate with you? Putting on a coat and tie to go to the office across the hall didn’t grab me, but I am impressed by his consistency. — Heber
Nope. I have preferred tools — a fountain pen and legal pad for writing a draft of anything longer, and iA Writer for writing on the Mac, but I’m not nearly as orderly. I don’t even feel the needto make tea anymore before writing. But I do put up at least two posts every weekday and at least one a day on weekends. :)
