This scam goes back at least as far as the summer of 2023.

I've been getting calls telling me that they think a "iPhone 16 pro max seems to be fraud.' so far the calls have been $10.08 and $87.08 for a phone with no identification of who is calling. I did look up the number and it's well-known for being a scam/phishing call. I think you call them and they ask for your card number and then say oh, it's not you but they now have your card. interesting how it always ends in ".08!"
