But look: the inside cone too is melting. The only emperor is the emperor of ice-cream.
The temperature here in east-central Illinois: 102 °F. The heat index: 115 °F.

Believe it or not, I'm looking forward to some heat. It's been cold here. Only two days since May above the mid 70s...
We’ll have it here for you, Norman, no fear.
The one inside is melting a lot more slowly. You can see texture on the surface. The one outside has smoothed over.
I'd like to know what's holding the outer cone in place. It seems to be magically suspended.
Over 90 in S E MI today, but yesterday was worse - close to 100.
Cheers!

Yes, one cone is melting more slowly. But they are both melting. (The only emperor is the emperor of ice-cream.)
A wire holder is holding the cones in place.
It was 107 Thursday, down to 105 Friday. Prediction is for at least 100 or more every day for the coming week. It is really, really hot here. And no rain to speak of for 2 months. Ouch. Bad grass fires; we hope not to follow in Colorado's footsteps.
