Yesterday morning, half an hour before we had to leave for the airport, Rachel and Ben began trying out this song. Just enough time for Elaine and me to learn it. It’s “Half-Acre,” by Hem. For added realism, watch with a mirror.

And once again, the voila is stuck with the bass line.... BTW, Garrison Keillor's -Pretty Good Joke Book- has a lot of great viola jests (which of course we shared with our daughter, the violist.)
That's wonderful, Michael. Rachel has a lovely voice, and it's a delight to see/hear your old National. When will the Leddys appear on a bill with Gillian Welch and David Rawlings?
Actually Elaine, the viola's open C string adds all sorts of overtones to any ensemble. The violist was more than happy to play it (and to provide a bass for her family--as she tends to do in life).
Elaine catches and serves bass on a regular basis (or bassis).
Stefan, GW and DR have been avoiding us for years. My National’s not nearly as old as DR’s guitar — it’s a 1994 replica.
