That music is wonderful. And your post gets at the same point you made in your note about Stefan Zweig — despair can kill good people who are rightfully concerned about real danger. My father played tennis into old age and often beat younger, stronger opponents by sheer doggedness. He'd say, "Don't give them anything." Don't give up. Don't concede. Be difficult. He just kept the ball in play until his opponent grew impatient and made a mistake.
