I hear this all the time, and it jumps out at me when I hear it. Another peeve, and even more common, is the use of use of "less" when referring to a count noun. Ugh!
It’d be nice to see fewer instances of that.
As I always say — and I think you would identify — I don’t go looking for these things. They announce themselves, loudly.
