Jeepers — I step away from the news to do the dishes and listen to a podcast and then find that in my absence the story broke that the FBI has executed a search warrant at Mar-a-Largo. “They even broke into my safe!” a defeated former president complains.
Well, if you had a safe and also had things you wanted to hide, where else would you keep them?
What’s in the safe could be — and no doubt already is — a big deal.

Man who once weaponized the Justice Department against his political rivals is now screaming about his political rivals weaponizing the Justice Department against. I’m sure he doesn’t appreciate the hypocrisy. And he appointed the FBI director himself. So he only has himself to blame, which he certainly doesn’t appreciate either.
I heard conservatives are screaming to defund the FBI. So, defunding the police is bad, but defunding the FBI is fine? Okay…
The contradictions and the hypocrisy are just staggering, aren’t they?
I wonder what his minions will say when the details come out about what he was keeping and what he was doing or planning to do with it. There’s a lot of speculation that some urgent, immediate circumstances prompted this search warrant.
This does seem bigger than just him failing to send some documents to the National Archives.
My suspicion is that he was scheming to monetize something. Selling state secrets to a foreign power? I wouldn’t put it past him.
