For anyone going to the grocery store: when you check out, keep your cart behind you at the start of the checkout lane and unload your groceries from the front of the cart. Your cart thus keeps the unmasked asshat behind you at a greater distance. As the cashier begins to scan your purchases, you can pull your cart forward, still keeping the hat at a greater distance.
The advantage of this tactic: no need for words. You’re just an oblivious shopper trying to get through the day.

A shopping tip

That's one of my tactics, too. I especially do this at Aldi as they use my cart for the next person. At my Walmart, I put the cart behind me and our aisles are big enough that I can stand over to the side while waiting for the cashier.
I also found out that on Tuesdays and Thursdays our Aldi opens up at 8:30 am for seniors and immunocompromised. Once I found that out, those are my days to go not Wednesday for all the new stuff.
I did notice that our Aldi has some Christmas foodstuffs now in the aisles along with some usuually Oktoberfest items.
Other shopping tactics: have a list and if you go to the place enough, you can put it in order of the aisles.

ps forgot to look for the recommended crab cakes. The stilton that came in at Christmas was awesome as well as the double Gloucester.
Yes, it was Aldi this morning. Lots of filler on the shelves, along with brand-name paper products — signs of the times.
Crab cakes are gone, for a while I would guess.
A list helps a lot. Going shopping used to be like going to a museum — oh, look at that! Now it’s more like running down a football field.
