Death wishes

An effort to end the Affordable Care Act. Apparent indifference to a Russian effort to pay bounties to the Taliban for killing American troops. And now a report of sticker removal in Tulsa.

That’s just some news from Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. And, as always, there’s the denigrating of masks and tests.

Donald Trump* expresses more interest in preserving “beautiful monuments” than in preserving American lives. Truly, Trump* equals death.

[I should add that Trump*’s professed devotion to “monuments” and “statues” and “heritage” is itself, as Joe Biden would say, malarkey.]

Not to be too cynical but I am betting there is pressure by the insurance industry also to end it.

Consider this article: https://www.reuters.com/article/us-health-coronavirus-effects/scientists-just-beginning-to-understand-the-many-health-problems-caused-by-covid-19-idUSKBN23X1BZ

As I wrote to a friend on Friday: Biden remarked yesterday regarding covid survivors: "He suggested insurers would view covid-19 as a preexisting condition, and without the ACA's protections, would be free to deny survivors coverage (it's not clear that would be the case)." (from the Washington Post on Friday)

Ha, the insurers would be more than happy to classify it as a pre-existing condition simply to get out of paying for life-long respiratory issues. Or they could argue that you had to have had and been tested as showing covid prior to ACA being struck down.

There will be all sorts of arguments by the insurers.

And some businesses that were paying health insurance of their employees despite them not working are now sending out notices saying it will no longer be covered.
