Wow! That’s sharp-eyed, even by your standards. I remember dialing that number as a kid—like every kid, I suppose— and eventually, someone (WLS radio in Chicago, maybe?) made it so you got a recorded message. But as I typed this, I began to worry that I was imagining it. Nope, WLS evidently bought the number during the height of the song’s popularity from a woman getting an average of about 7,000 calls per day. (Thanks, Wikipedia.)
