If you, like me, believe that children should have more than one or two pencils, Musgrave is offering a 2025 Holiday Gift Pack: “two official List Checker 1225s, two peppermint-scented (!) striped Peppermint pencils, one red Poinsettia pencil, one gold Good News 701, and six pretty Christmas-patterned pencils inspired by our favorite wrapping paper.”
Note: peppermint-scented (!).
Great for kids or anyone else.
[Musgrave is one of the last companies making pencils in the United States.]

A peppermint-scented pencil? Are you supposed to taste it? They always made fun of dumbkin first-graders who ate paste. But I always thought, if you weren't supposed to taste it, why was it mint-flavored? (And, then there's the moisture-absorbing crystals in packages that say "don't eat this." I wouldn't have thought to eat it, if they hadn't written that!) Thoughts of an anonymous taster.
Wait — paste was minty? I'm feeling that I missed out. :)
Our giftees (is that a word?) know that pencils are only for sharpening, sniffing, and writing. Me, I like the smell of pencil-scented pencils.
