I was in a living room, putting on my coat, getting ready to leave a party. An acquaintance sitting on the sofa asked, “How's your mom?” “Oh,” I said, “she died this past April.”
I turned around to leave and there she was, walking toward me, wearing pants and a cozy sweater, totally with it, totally herself.
That’s as far as it got.
