In Los Angeles, Charlene Matthews, bookbinder, has written out the text of James Joyce’s Ulysses on thirty-eight ship dowels.
Thanks, Sean.

As I'm reading through Lucy Ellmann's very enjoyable "Ducks, Newburyport" (essentially a 988 page-long sentence, which makes it tricky to catch up where you left off because there are no paragraph breaks), I am constantly thinking of Joyce because the narrative voice often mentions growing up in Evanston, and Ellmann's own father was Richard Ellmann and wrote the definitive James Joyce, and taught at Northwestern.
Huh — I’ve glanced at that novel but had no idea that she’s RE’s daughter.
