Whoa

From Bloomberg:

President Donald Trump pressed then-Secretary of State Rex Tillerson to help persuade the Justice Department to drop a criminal case against an Iranian-Turkish gold trader who was a client of Rudy Giuliani, according to three people familiar with the 2017 meeting in the Oval Office.

Tillerson refused, arguing it would constitute interference in an ongoing investigation of the trader, Reza Zarrab, according to the people. They said other participants in the Oval Office were shocked by the request.
It’s really beginning to feel as if floodgates are opening, walls are closing in, and clichés are taking over this sentence.

I’m remembering the final episode of Seinfeld, when Jerry, Elaine, George and Kramer are on trial. The prosecutor brings in a veritable parade of characters from past seasons, who act as anti-character witnesses against the four defendants. Trump’s impeachment trial could be exactly the same if they subpoena every administration official that he fired.

Here is my background song (and singers)* for watching the floodgates swing open and all hell break loose as the waters of righteousness sweep away the trash in the White House: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cEXhZ8PwM-Y. I'm listening to it as I type, tears on my cheeks.

I hope we are right about the coming changes, and that they come soon.

The only thing I did was right
Was the day we started to fight
Keep your eyes on the prize
Hold on

Pete, that would be an extraordinary thing to see. I keep wondering if he will resign rather than face such humiliation. All of his insults about someone crying like a baby or a little girl make me think that his childhood was one long episode of humiliation at his father’s hands.

Martha, you should listen to episode of Soul Music, about Sam Cooke’s song. We should all remember that Barack Obama invoked that song on Election Day in 2008: “It’s been a long time coming, but tonight, because of what we did on this day, in this election, at this defining moment, change has come to America.”

And I gotta add: we used to sing along with “Eyes on the Prize” (and everything else) listening to Pete Seeger on family drives.

Oops: to this episode.

When I click on the link you suggested above, it takes me back out to Springsteen in New Orleans.

Dang — I pasted the wrong link. This is the one for Soul Music.
