News of the future

It’s not yet in The New York Times, not yet in The Washington Post: Congressman Steve Cohen (D, Tennessee-9) “will be introducing articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump following the President’s comments on the horrific events in Charlottesville, Virginia.”

While I appreciate his gesture, I don't think making abhorrent comments are an impeachable offense.

I don’t think this effort will succeed, at least not yet. But here’s something from a piece in The Washington Post on what counts as an impeachable offense: “Many impeachment efforts have been prompted by behavior seen as inconsistent with the responsibility and reputation of the office. Some individuals are impeached to get them out of office, when their actions threaten the political system’s functioning, and they can’t be stopped any other way.”

I would think there are grounds enough under U.S. Code Title 18 Part I, Chapter 115, and have been since before he was elected.

How long is this going to take? How many more people have to die because of his reckless and intentional disregard for the laws of this land?

Take a stand.

And to our president: take a hike. Or use a golf cart. Just go.
