Reinventing philanthropy

Donna Shalala, president of the Clinton Foundation, on the PBS NewsHour tonight, speaking of Bill Clinton:

“The president has reinvented philanthropy in this country.”

    I think I know what he’d say (while smiling): “Let me ask you: what do you think it would mean to reinvent philanthropy in the country?”

    And after someone gives an answer: “Well, guess what? That’s exactly what we’re doing.”
