[Peanuts, December 5, 1960.]
Today’s Peanuts, a repeat of a 1960 strip, is a variation on Gertrude Stein’s “Pigeons on the Grass,” from Four Saints in Three Acts.

Yes, I caught that Charlie Brown allusion. I'm an ardent lover of Gertrude Stein and Four Saints in Three Acts. When the Chicago Opera Company put it on, I went back to see it two days in a row. And once when I was in the City Lights bookstore in San Francisco, I brought a used volume of Virgil Thomson's autobiographical essays to the cashier who looked at it and said, I wondered who was going to buy that.
Good luck on end-of-semester duties,
Thanks, George. Same to you. I saw your, or Oscar’s, stack of papers this morning.
