Either public urination or watering your plants when there is some sort of water shortage and thus prohibition against watering your lawn.
Good guesses, but it’s something else. Stay tuned; I’ll post the answer tomorrow.

No, actually, I'd guess something more like tree-spiking in lumbering areas.

My guess is: tree-on-tree violence.
You know-- the limbs are thrashing around, slicing leaves off the neighbors' branches; and then there is letting a big dead branch fall onto your neighbor's head... not to mention the secretion of toxic agents to kill competing plant growth.
