Last night on PBS, a discussion of the media, the primaries, and the words used to describe black and white voters. And this morning, Hillary Clinton speaks of her broad appeal to "working, hard-working Americans, white Americans."
Can she go any lower? Yes, she can.

Ever since I read Living History I have been willing to give the woman the benefit of the doubt, probably because the book's intended audience was skeptics like me. But given what she has been saying lately, it has become clear to me that, as they say, "it's all about her." I think that Hillary's pandering on gasoline taxes and OPEC is disgraceful. Whose oil is it anyway?
Today's Clinton remarks could be part of a play for the vice-presidency (by insisting that Obama cannot get enough votes), but I'm sticking by what I wrote in a comment on a February 26 post: "If Clinton loses any real chance for the nomination and continues to trash Obama, I will conclude that she's seeking to damage his chances in the general election so as to improve her own chances in 2012." I agree; it's all about her.
She is the sound of desperation. She has flipped her lid, is off her rocker, has let the loon out of the bag...and there ain't no putting it back in now! 9 out of 10 working, hard-working Americans, white Americans think so.

I wouldn't have believed that quote had I not followed the link... I'm not sure if it's an international term or not, but in my country we call this "dog whistling". As in, sending a signal to a particular constituency in a coded way so that they hear the true message. You also can't be pegged for it later.
You're both right on the money: it's all about Hillary. Such a pity.
