Two minutes

Donald President Trump spent two minutes at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial in Washington today. From The New York Times:

Mr. Trump’s stop by the memorial — to observe a moment of silence without extended public remarks — appeared to be a last-minute addition to his calendar. The president’s schedule listed no public events to mark the federal holiday honoring King’s life, which had drawn criticism from civil rights activists.

Oh, how sad! Sometimes I almost feel sorry for DJT as it is obvious that he has absolutely no social skills or sense of obligation for certain actions.

And the interesting part is where was he during this time? He's old enough to have remembered it happening. What was he doing in his life? One couldn't miss it on tv or the radio or even newspapers.

I remember a girl friend of mine calling me to tell me about it and when I heard the phone ring I had the feeling what she was calling about even before she spoke. 1968 was such an important year.

A short recognition speech would have helped but then again after what Sarah H tweeted out, I'm not sure he would have said something helpful.

It would have been lip service, for sure. What strikes me is that the visit was just an afterthought. Was Trump thinking any thoughts about MLK in the leadup to this Monday? I doubt it.

Yes, it would have been lip service and most likely the visit was an afterthought. Many news media have remarked how there was nothing on his schedule today.

I did see the video about the visit and it was painfully awkward. I think one of the persons there with DJT and the VP was a National Park Service employee. The 3 of them carried the wreath to the base of the monument.

That video is bizarre — especially its silence. And his tweet couldn’t even get the name of the memorial right — there should be a comma after King.
