“A radiance behind it”

Once a year, Robin travels by train to Stratford, Ontario, to see a Shakespeare play:

Alice Munro, “Tricks,” in Runaway (New York: Vintage, 2005).

Also from this book
One Munro sentence : “That is what happens” : “Henry Ford?” : “A private queer feeling”

I've admired Alice Munro's stories but never slowed down enough to wonder at her passages--thanks for allowing me to to that here.

I’ve wondered why I’ve never thought to look at her work before (I heard her read in the 1980s), and I realize why: Because short stories. Now that I’m no longer teaching, I’m much more attuned to fiction in all forms.
