This clock sits atop the 1929 Bay Cities Guaranty & Loan Association building at 225 Santa Monica Boulevard. You-Are-Here, an excellent site about Los Angeles-area architecture, helped me track down the building’s name.
By the way, it’s 1:37 p.m.

Funny, one of my favorites delicatessens in Los Angeles is a place called Bay Cities a couple of blocks away.
I see that their website includes a red-checked tablecloth. I’m writing down the name (in nvALT) for future reference. Thanks. If you want good but not great Thai food in Santa Monica, let me recommend Thai Dishes.
(And yes, nvALT is a winner, as you suggested a while ago.)
